From President Ben:

During the 2021-2022 Rotary Year, the Addison Midday Rotary Club conducted 12 service projects, and our members provided a total of over 270 volunteer hours to get them done.

For two of the service projects, our club received Matching District Grants for Projects with the Addison Police and Fire Departments (Santa’s Heroes and Cops & Kids). For each of these two Service Projects, our club provided $930 worth of gift cards.  The matching District Grants provided the same amount of money, bringing the total of donations to nearly $3,900!

The club also provided the yearly Easter Baskets for Hope Supply. But in addition to these club funded donations, the members also came up with additional, own and individual donations – for example our toilet paper drive, the books and toys provided for George H W Bush Elementary School, the cereal for Metrocrest Services.

It is important to note that setting out and picking up flags as well as all the work done at the flag workday is not included in the volunteer hours related to the service projects. This is fundraising, helping to create the income we have from this program. The true hours committed by our members to our club therefore is much higher.
