June 23 Meeting
Garett Jones
Executive Director, Rebuilding Together North Texas
Over thirty years ago in Midland, Texas, the idea for Rebuilding Together was born. Known then as Christmas in April, Rebuilding Together supported single women in their community by providing minor home repairs. It has since grown to facilitate home repairs to thousands of low-income homeowners year-round.

Robert Moisan established the North Texas affiliate of Rebuilding Together in 2001 after he saw the great need in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

As a 501(c)(3), Rebuilding Together North Texas restores hope and revitalizes neighborhoods by bringing volunteers and communities together to repair homes and rebuild the lives of low-income homeowners. We enhance the safety, health, and quality of life for veterans, veteran widows, seniors, families with minor children, and people with disabilities by providing free home repair using volunteers and professionals throughout North Texas. Rebuilding Together North Texas is strengthening the Denton, Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, and Rockwall counties to build a brighter future for North Texas.

Education Plus Today
In June 2014, our community center Casa de los Sueños (CDLS) opened to the joy of nearly 200 children and their parents.  Here we provide food, education, and activities in order to eliminate malnutrition, instill core values, and give them the resources they need to rise above their impoverished circumstances.  We offer our children a safe haven that keeps them off the streets, and exciting opportunities that keep them into education. In a country with the highest primary school dropout rate in Central America, our students believe that going to university is within their reach. Not only that, the children arrive to our program overjoyed to be there.  Instead of hunger, what these children – the “forgotten children” – now have, is hope.

Looking for Veterans to join Rotary

The Rotary Club of North Texas Veterans is being formed to support veterans and veteran causes in North Texas.  Do you know of any veterans that should be Rotarians?  Veterans who want to continue to serve the community and build goodwill and camaraderie alongside fellow Veterans?  They can find out more about Rotary Club of North Texas Veterans via Zoom this Thursday June 4th 7:00 PM

“Service Above Self” is what best describes the work of a Rotarian and it is the motto of Rotary International. When we took that Oath of Service to join the military, we put aside our individual goals and do what is best for the people and community that we are serving.
